SEVEN MUSIC ACTS AND TWO FESTIVAL STAGES FOR VODAFONE GOLD COAST 600
In a shift towards a fan-friendly festival feel, this year’s Vodafone Gold Coast 600 will host seven acts on two stages in a revamp of the event’s precinct and entertainment offerings.
As part of an overhaul of the event precinct to excite new audiences, two concerts will be held simultaneously inside the race track on dual Macintosh Island stages on the Saturday night.
The Club 600 stage at the rear of the pit complex will host a DJ mix with some of the world’s biggest names while the second will feature traditional Australian rock and alternate rock artists.
Internationally renowned British DJ CARL COX will headline the Club 600 concert on a brand-new stage with another international special guest, DJ Eric Powell on the Friday night.
They will be joined by Australian festival sensation HOT DUB TIME MACHINE and Brisbane-based British hitmaker Example who will light up the stage at Club 600 on Saturday night.
The second stage near the famous final corner hill area will feature three of Australia’s best rock and alternative acts with Kingswood, Mental As Anything and The Vanns on Saturday night.
“This is part of a long-term vision for the event to make the Vodafone Gold Coast 600 a multifaceted entertainment precinct with new and exciting offerings to create wider appeal,” Supercars CEO Sean Seamer said.
“We plan on continuing to innovate, refresh and revitalise this event, in conjunction with our partners. Bringing this world class entertainment inside the race track is the first step on that journey.”
Tourism Industry Development Assistant Minister Meaghan Scanlon said the announcement of the blockbuster entertainment line-up would further expand the appeal of the event.
“This is one of the Gold Coast’s most significant annual events and yet another showcase of the coast as a world class event destination,” Ms Scanlon said. “The innovations that Supercars have undertaken to broaden the appeal of the Gold Coast 600 are set to attract even more fans to the event, growing this already popular event even larger and boosting our region’s economy and creating jobs.”
The broader entertainment package includes the introduction of the SuperKids Zone which will operate during the day. The SuperKids zone made its debut at the Watpac Townsville 400 last week to a huge reception from kids and families.
The 2019 Vodafone Gold Coast 600 is supported by the Queensland Government through Tourism and Events Queensland and features on the It’s Live! in Queensland events calendar, worth $800m to the state’s economy in 2019. All concerts, daytime entertainment and the SuperKids Zone are free with every ticket. For more information head to Supercars.com.
